“One of my staff just received an email from someone asking for a quote to make a gent's ring. We actually do this all the time, BUT this email had renderings from another jeweler using 3D Design software; the customer sent us the renderings from this other jeweler to give a price quote to do the job.

I think it takes a LOT of nerve for a customer to forward a custom design to other jewelers for a price quote to do the job.

Given this experience, I recommend that if you are emailing custom renderings to your customers, to also add to your screen shot a line that says something like: "ALL DESIGNS ARE THE PROPERTY OF [your company's name]AND ARE NOT TO BE DUPLICATED"

I know that this will not necessarily stop a customer from trying to price shop the design, but it HOPEFULLY will stop another jeweler from agreeing to do the work and taking away the order from another jeweler.
