New York--Antiquorum closed its 2008 season last week, netting a total of $7,279,620 in a New York sale of Important Collectors' Wristwatches, Pocket Watches and Clocks.
More than 388 online bidders competed with telephone and commission bidders for the 542 lots in the Dec. 10-11 sale. The lots offered sold at 105 percent of their estimate, and 75 percent of all lots sold.

Milwaukee--GemEx Systems is accusing Zale Corp. of false advertising in a lawsuit that claims the jewelry chain is deceiving consumers by stating that the grading reports accompanying its new, branded "Celebration" diamonds measure light performance.
GemEx, the Wisconsin-based company that provides diamond-evaluation services to the jewelry industry, filed the lawsuit on Dec. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, naming Zale Corp., Zale Delaware Inc. and GemEx rival company, GS Laboratories of America (GSL), of Irving, Texas, as defendants.

London--A 35.56-carat blue diamond broke through the financial gloom on Wednesday, setting a new world record price for a diamond sold at auction.
The deep grayish-blue gem, known as the Wittelsbach Diamond, sold for $24.3 million at Christie's "Jewels: The London Sale," topping the previous record of $16.5 million set by the sale of a 100-carat diamond in Geneva in 1995.
